Bismarck, ND – In the aftermath of the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, North Dakotans will gather this Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 3:30pm to 5:00pm at Newsong Church, 3200 N 11th St, Bismarck, ND, to honor him and the principle of free speech. Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was an inspiration to young Americans nationwide. The event, titled “Faith Over Fear,” honors not only a leader and role model for young people, but also a loving husband and devoted father to Erika and their two children.
Charlie Kirk was regarded widely, even by critics, as a fearless advocate of open, respectful debate. Despite facing countless threats, he remained committed to engaging and inspiring young Americans through truth-seeking argument and good-faith dialogue. His passion and energy were unmatched; from launching Turning Point USA as a determined 18-year-old with no resources to becoming a powerful voice for conservative values, free speech, and faith in America’s promise.
One of the organizers, Fargo-area State Representative Jared Hendrix, stated: “Many friends, supporters and admirers of Charlie Kirk, along with even those who disagreed with him, are deeply concerned by the impact this heinous act of violence could have on our nation. Many have expressed fear, anger, frustration, sadness, and shock. That is why we must come together and rally. We will not let fear or inaction take root. I was in shock over what happened, but in the midst of that the idea for this event came to my heart. So we’re doing it.”
New Song Church Pastor Kurt Chaffee, also an organizer, said: “A natural builder and problem-solver, Charlie met challenges with resilience, faith, and an unwavering belief in his ability to make a difference. His values were timeless American ones: honesty, loyalty, duty, and fair play. Above all, Charlie’s life was shaped by his profound faith in Christ—a faith he most wished to be remembered for. In his final public speech, just days before his death, he courageously shared the Gospel with a crowd of skeptics.”
The rally will feature remarks from community leaders, pastors, and elected officials reflecting on Charlie’s enduring impact. Pastor Kurt Chaffee will emcee and lead prayers. Attendees will be invited to unite in prayer and recommitment to the principles for which Charlie stood. All are welcome.
